Trade Associations and Unions

QuickPen works closely with the leading trade associations and trade unions for the mechanical and sheet metal industries. We support these groups with financial and in-kind services contributions, and by taking an active role on important committees. These organizations include:

UA

The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, or "UA" as it is commonly known, is a multi-craft union whose members are engaged in the fabrication, installation and servicing of piping systems. There are approximately 326,000 highly-skilled United Association members who belong to 321 individual local unions across North America. MCAA

Through access to MCAA's extensive array of education and training programs, MCAA contractors acquire continuing education in the best business practices and the latest technological developments. They employ the best-trained mechanics in the world — members of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. QuickPen is a member of the Manufacturer/Supplier Council and a sponsor of the MCAA Annual Convention. QuickPen designed and developed the website for the Mechanical Contractors Education and Research Fund (www.MCERF.org). QuickPen is currently helping MCERF develop the Online Piping & Usage Specification (OPUS), an online update to the Guideline for Quality Piping & Installation.

ASHRAE

ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers is organized for the sole purpose of advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration for the public's benefit through research, standards writing, continuing education and publications.

SMACNA

SMACNA standards and manuals address all facets of the sheet metal industry, from duct construction and installation to air pollution control, from energy recovery to roofing. SMACNA's Technical Resources Department fields several thousand technical questions annually from architects, engineers, manufacturers and government personnel, from energy recovery to roofing. QuickPen is a Sustaining Associate Member of SMACNA.

PHCC

The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC-National Association) is a professional trade association for contractors who work in the plumbing-heating-cooling industry. Founded in 1883, it is the oldest trade organization in the construction industry and the largest in the p-h-c industry. QuickPen is a Major Donor to the PHCC Educational Foundation.

ACCA

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) is the nation's premiere trade association of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) contractors. ACCA's member network includes contractors, manufacturers of HVACR equipment, wholesalers and distributors, vocational and technical schools, facilities operators, and others.

MCAC

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) is Federation of provincial autonomous associations, all working for the betterment and advancement of the trade and mechanical contracting industry in Canada. With offices in each province and 15 regional offices in Ontario, the Mechanical Contractors Association is Canada’s largest trade contractor Association. QuickPen is an Associate Member of MCAC and a sponsor of the MCAC Annual Convention.
