QuickPen International Releases AutoBid® Mechanical 6

CAD Integration, Vendor Management Top List of New Features

Englewood, Colo., February 12, 2007 — Today QuickPen International announced the release of AutoBid® Mechanical 6, the latest version of its Windows-based mechanical estimating system. Version 6 is a major update to AutoBid Mechanical that includes tight integration with QuickPen's PipeDesigner 3D® CAD software and a new module for comparing and applying vendor quotes, as well as new takeoff capabilities.

ConnectEst, QuickPen's seamless integration module, allows contractors to transfer data between AutoBid Mechanical and PipeDesigner 3D, increasing accuracy throughout the organization and providing an early review of an estimate's accuracy.

Quote Manager gives estimators and project managers the power to manage vendor quotes for supplies and merchandise. Quote Manager allows you to verify bid accuracy and to compare bids between different vendors.

Direct TakeOff is a new feature that gives estimators the freedom to easily add items to takeoff without referencing a particular specification. AutoBid automatically flags these items in the audit trail for easy tracking. Users can select a specific valve or item from the list of piping items without modifying the estimate's specifications.

"AutoBid Mechanical 6 provides a range of powerful new tools to help make estimates more versatile and more valuable throughout the entire company," said John McKay, QuickPen Vice President of Operations. "ConnectEst gives contractors an unprecedented level of integration between estimating and CAD."

AutoBid Mechanical 6 gives users increased control over projects, TakeOff, and reports, with faster database installation, unlimited project backups, and enhanced project security features, in addition to new report filtering and generation capabilities. Of note, the new Assembly Viewer allows users to display assemblies in the TakeOff window or move the assembly viewer to any location on screen, providing estimators with a visual confirmation of assembly components.

"Our customers are our best product innovators, and when they tell us what they want AutoBid to do, we make it happen," said Mike Reith, QuickPen Director of Development. "The new features in AutoBid Mechanical 6 will make our customers more productive and more accurate."
