This release provides several new features, including the Field Points option, which gives users seamless integration with the Trimble® MEP layout solution for fast, accurate field installation layout. Other productivity enhancements in this release include enhanced router line capabilities and tighter integration with supported Autodesk applications. Mechanical and plumbing contractors are facing increasingly complex designs and more demanding schedules. With Field Points, contractors can take a PipeDesigner 3D Building Information Model (BIM) into the field to simplify the layout of conduit, pipe, duct and cable trays. The Field Points option allows the user to generate precise points and then exports those points for use with the Trimble MEP layout solution. In addition to automatically generating change-of-direction points, using the Field Points capability users have the ability to create unlimited custom points. Trimble MEP utilizes the Trimble RTS Series Robotic Total Stations, a Trimble Nomad, and Trimble MEP layout software to provide precise location of pipe, duct and cable tray hangers and pipe and electrical conduit sleeves for floor and wall penetrations. Field Points with the Trimble MEP solution increases the contractor's productivity by reducing rework and facilitating faster, easier and more accurate layout. "Mechanical and plumbing contractors are facing accelerated work schedules and tighter margins," said Morton Massey, QuickPen General Manager. "Trimble MEP gives them the ability to seamlessly perform layout more quickly and more accurately with fewer people, allowing them to use valuable labor resources elsewhere on a project. Field Points gives users of PipeDesigner 3D the ability to achieve pinpoint accuracy when doing so." PipeDesigner 3D 2009 v2 also provides new auto-routing commands"Build Route Line" and "Reroute from Fittings." These commands provide great flexibility and time savings in the creation and duplication of router lines and have a wide range of uses and benefits for detailers. With the Build Route command, users can now instantly create a router line from an existing route to copy for use in a similar or parallel system. Reroute from Fittings can be used to quickly optimize a run of pipe to eliminate cut joints regardless of whether or not the run has a router line. Other new features in PipeDesigner 3D v2 include relocation of the PipeDesigner 3D CAD options into the AutoCAD options dialog for tighter integration with supported AutoDesk applications and increased annotation flexibility for sloped runs of pipe. PipeDesigner 3D v2 is available now through QuickPen. About QuickPen International
