10/13/2008 - QuickPen International Releases AutoBid SheetMetal 2008 v2
New Release features Nested Assemblies, Reporting Enhancements
Englewood, Colo., October 13, 2008 - QuickPen International today announced the release of AutoBid SheetMetal 2008 v2, featuring a wide range of user-requested enhancements, including the ability to created nested assemblies and reporting enhancements that allow contractors to maintain the privacy of their calculations when generating reports for presentations to general contractors or building owners.
AutoBid SheetMetal 2008 v2 extends the software's ability to create assemblies, connected groups of items that can be taken off as a single item. The ability to create and use nested assemblies further reduces takeoff time. Now users can create an assembly such as a sleeve and include that in a fire damper assembly. Design build contractors might create a nested assembly for a typical room that includes a VAV box, ductwork, a fire damper, and diffuser assemblies.
The latest release of AutoBid SheetMetal also gives contractors significant new flexibility in the way they generate and display reports, allowing them to apply factors and adjustments to bids without revealing details to owners or general contractors. Among the new items that users can choose to hide or display are report titles, project names, alternate/base bid, page numbers, labor adjustments, and percentage adjustments to material costs, shop labor, and field labor.
"QuickPen is dedicated to providing timely, substantive releases of our products," said Stacy Zerr, Chief Operating Officer. "With the release of AutoBid SheetMetal 2008 v2 we are providing several new features and feature enhancements that our customers had specifically requested."
This release also includes enhancements to the Code Manager to export alternate bids and Library Categories, as well as including quantity as a standard export item. Additional items include On Screen View enhancements and the ability to ignore external insulation in lined rectangular duct.
