Backward Compatibility
QuickPen CAD software applications are designed to work with a specific version of compatible Autodesk® applications. If, in the current installed software, you save a drawing in a previous version format, you will experience issues with the drawing when reopened in the current installed version.

Autodesk Defaults

QuickPen CAD compatible Autodesk software applications allow you to set a default format. This avoids the possibility of a drawing inadvertently being saved in an incorrect (previous) format when using the Save or QSave command.
1. Go to Options and click the Open and Save tab.
2. In the File Save pane, the Save as field should display the current format based on the Autodesk/QuickPen CAD software version currently installed. If it does not, click   and select the appropriate format from the list. The graphic below illustrates using the AutoCAD 2010 drawing format. Please substitute the appropriate version based on your installed software application(s).

Note: This version must agree with the version of your Autodesk product, as well as the version of your QuickPen CAD product.
Save As Command
When you use the Save As command, you must ensure that the selected version is correct in the File of type field. If it is not, click   and select the appropriate format from the list before clicking Save. The graphic below illustrates saving a drawing in an AutoCAD 2010 drawing format. Please substitute the appropriate version based on your installed software application(s).

Note: This version must agree with the version of your Autodesk product, as well as the version of your QuickPen CAD product.
From time to time you may find it necessary to save a drawing back to a previous version. QuickPen strongly recommends that you save this file with a different name to avoid overwriting the current drawing.
